The app for the U-461 Juliett – the world's largest museum submarine – is your digital companion during your museum visit. Here, you'll experience a piece of naval history up close and have the unique opportunity to enter a world otherwise hidden from view. Those who dare to venture among thousands of cockpits and a few thousand kilometers of cables can experience what life must really be like for a crew member in a submarine. Here, you can not only see on the TV screen what the crew and cast might have experienced in the classic films "Das Boot" or "The Hunt for Red October," but you can also experience this very feeling for yourself.
How does the app work?
The app is based on iBeacon technology. An iBeacon is a small Bluetooth radio transmitter that automatically connects to your smartphone. There are approximately 10 iBeacons in the exhibition. When you approach one, it automatically triggers new content in the app. Each iBeacon displays up to three pieces of content.
Headphones for the Museum
Using the app via the smartphone's speaker is limited (reduced volume), so headphones are recommended.
