Welcome to Kestner, the German Sign Language Dictionary (DGS)!
With over 18,500 different terms as a sign video, the Kestner is an invaluable tool for expressing yourself with signs in almost any situation. This world's largest dictionary from the DGS not only offers a comprehensive vocabulary, but also a variety of helpful functions that enable you to better understand and communicate more easily in German Sign Language. Get to know German sign language in a playful way with a comprehensive vocabulary trainer, create and share your own sign lists and create memory aids and worksheets. This makes learning sign easy and effective!
The signs in the Kestner are divided into over 100 categories. A search function and many filters make it easier for you to find sign videos. If a term you are looking for is not included as a sign in Kestner, synonyms will be suggested to you. The Kestner also shows you pre-made sign images with movement arrows for around 2,500 terms.
Using an integrated image editor, you can create still images of the sign videos directly in Kestner and edit them with arrows and many different elements. You can then insert the sign images into print templates and use the Kestner to create worksheets and teaching materials. You can insert the approximately 3,500 symbol images from the Mulberry symbol collection into sign images and print templates. You can print or download the sign pictures and print templates.
You can use the Kestner with your personal login data on all devices as an app and web version. The Kestner always stays up to date with regular updates and upgrades.
