With the Hügel app, users get never-before-seen insights into the economic and historical background of Villa Hügel and the 41-hectare park. Villa Hügel was the home of the Krupp family dynasty for 72 years and a place of representation for kings, emperors and heads of state. The app traces the history of the family and company and highlights key points such as the rise of the company, connections to state power, world wars, National Socialism and arms production. Augmented reality, 3D elements and 360 degree panoramas bring the past to light and make the transformation of the place tangible: With the free app, you can take a virtual look behind closed doors of the bathroom in which Kaiser Wilhelm II liked to bathe or the swimming pool The Krupp family is taken and new places are discovered. With augmented reality, the existing environment is expanded, for example, to include room furniture that no longer exists or former utility buildings, such as greenhouses or stables. The app offers a free tour, a highlight, a children's tour and a couch tour, with which users can experience Villa Hügel from the couch at home.
The latest update expands the app to include an artist tour with former scholarship holder Samson Young.
