About this app

ABOUT THE APP:
The digital tree nature trail "App into the Green" is intended to bring children (and adults) closer to native trees in a playful way. The focus is on the smartphone as a companion in nature: Many mini-games in the app require interaction with the environment, e.g. photographing the leaves of the trees. The photos are collected in profiles for each tree and can be viewed again at any time.
After downloading the app, the app doesn't need any connection on the go. However, videos provided by BISA (Biodiversity in everyday school life) can be viewed in the profiles if there is an existing Internet connection. All games can be played repeatedly.

FUNCTIONS:
- Mini-games on 10 different native tree species
- Some games also available as multiplayer mode
- Profiles for each tree for more information
- A collection of your own photos and creative contributions
- A user profile in which your own favorite tree and that of your friends can be entered

DEVELOPMENT:
"App ins Grüne" was created by computer science and art students at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich and is not an official product of the LMU. The app was developed in cooperation with BISA (biodiversity in everyday school life) and the didactics of biology at the LMU. With a lot of commitment and attention to detail, a learning app has been created that uses numerous mini-games to convey knowledge about the local tree species.

OPEN SOURCE:
The source code was released as open source software under the MIT license. Since the development of the app will not be continued by us students, everyone is cordially invited to continue working on this project and to improve the app.
