About this app
"LKEL!" is the free smartphone app for informing and warning the population of the Emsland district.
Current notifications from the Emsland district can be found directly in the app, warnings and important messages can also be sent with additional push notifications if desired. Users can individually specify in which categories (largely specified by the federal government) they would like to be actively informed, e.g. fire, storms, (animal) epidemics, but also school cancellations, etc.
The app is connected to the nationwide Katwarn system and is based on the well-known BIWAPP application, which is already used in numerous other regions of Germany for warning purposes. However, this does not replace instructions from authorities, the police or other emergency services on site. For using the LEL! and receiving the information requires a data connection (WLAN or mobile), which may incur costs for the respective service provider.
To use the location function, location services must be activated on the smartphone.
