The core function / main feature of the alpha version of the app was developed on the basis of the approach avoidance paradigm, which is a special form of reaction training (Stice, Lawrence, Kemps, & Veling, 2016). Various studies in the context of alcohol consumption and eating disorders have already shown that this paradigm can be used to modify implicit attitudes and cognitive biases with regard to one's own alcohol and food consumption. It can also help (as an add-on intervention) to further increase the effects of inpatient therapy (e.g. Schumacher, Kemps, & Tiggemann, 2016, Eberl et al., 2013; Wiers, Eberl, Rinck, Becker, & Lindenmeyer, 2011).
The main target group of the app are children, adolescents and young adults who want to use the app to reduce craving and who need support in changing their attitudes and behavior with regard to media behavior.
