About this app

This app enables a high-quality view of the surface of our blue planet. It is divided into two areas: the rotatable, global view as an interactive globe and a high-resolution 3D map representation of the Earth's topography.

- Interactive 3D globe with surface, underwater and topography maps
- High-resolution 3D topography map set of the entire Earth's surface - divided into 22,912 individual tiles.

You can load 110 different regions onto the interactive globe, which then present the many individual tiles in a meaningful, connected way and reload them automatically. The app initially only contains the textures for the globe in low resolution. All required downloads are automatically loaded from our server. A total of around 105 GB of data is available. The data remains in the cache on your device for offline use, but can be deleted at any time in the main menu. Furthermore, all events recorded by the GDACS, such as hurricanes, earthquakes, etc., are entered on the globe.

The 3D topography map is based on the elevation data from the NASA Terra probe, which recorded 83° of the northern and southern hemispheres between 2000 and 2013 - this is the result of the ASTER3-DEM. With version 0.10.0, the map is enriched with around 7.5 million place names from geonames.org. This means that all the towns, mountains, lakes, deserts and many other geographical features entered there are shown on the map. From version 0.12.0, data from OpenStreetMaps (buildings, borders, streets...) is also available on the tiles - but only for the demos and the purchased maps.

Use the tutorial in the app to get started quickly or read the manual to find out which functions are included in this app. Since the app is still under development, some functions may still change.

We hope you enjoy using GlobeViewer!

As a paid app would be a 4* (lacks height multiplicator adjust outside tiles, relief is unrealistically high, maybe has a default non-0 setting). As a mixed app, the basic globe doesn't look better no matter the zoom, even the demo 8k globe looks low res (in the non-blurred zones of course). It has a demo tile mode (good quality) but the 45 seconds timer followed by adv. is too low, a minimum of 3 minutes would be decent for a demo. Works fast on my Samsung A8 2018, high-speed 4G data conn.

The 50 second Ad timing is only in the preview of HR 3D tile scenes. Ad based preview is offered to test the product. Edit: You have to zoom in to start loading the HR tiles. 8K res is max. to support older devices (RAM dependent) - global texture can't be better. As I wrote, reworking Ad timing in next version. Thank you!

Interesting demo. Developer has now fixed the workings of the app. There is a Globe Level (rotate), flat textured and 3D elev model view (by in-app purch. or by Ad). 1. The 3D tile element iswhere the 7.5 Mill labels are added so will see if this increases clarity on navigation or export. 2. An upcoming globe update to allow control of labels. | Expectations: It seems ll have to explore more and tweak my expectations. I'll have to further evaluate any data set/imagery export at a later date.

Thank you for your new review. I've sent you a mail with more detailes. The new 7.5 million labels are published in the 3D tiles. The global labels (with curved texts on the globe) will be part of the next update later this year or in early 2023. Kind regards.

Poor App. Offers nothing. The Globe moves way too fast when I try to move it around. Not sure how to close the app without a force close.

Thanks for your review. You can control the rotation speed in the app via the view options (the symbol in the right top corner). Use the "control speed" slider to reduce the rotation speed. The app is a multi platform app, and a close app is forbidden in iOS, so there is no close app button in the Android version as well. Kind regards.
