RainSpots helps you quickly assess rain events for your saved locations. The app shows when precipitation is expected to begin, how long it will last, and its expected intensity.
On the events page, consecutive periods of rain are clearly displayed. You can see start and end times, duration, average intensity, and optionally, the maximum rainfall. A graph complements the events and visualizes the progression of rainfall intensity over time.
The map view shows current and predicted precipitation areas on a light-colored OpenStreetMap base map. This makes it easier to see whether rain areas are approaching your location or passing by.
Optionally, RainSpots can send push notifications when precipitation events relevant to a selected location are expected. Notification settings can be adjusted in the app.
RainSpots uses current radar data to provide the most accurate possible forecast of rain events within the next two hours. These are short-term forecasts (nowcasts). RainSpots is NOT intended for weather forecasts beyond this two-hour period.
