TAP CRNS is a science-based simulation and learning application for Cosmic-Ray Neutron Sensing (CRNS). Explore how cosmic neutrons are used to determine soil moisture over large areas, and investigate the interactions between weather, vegetation, soil, and irrigation.
In various missions and freely configurable scenarios, you’ll place CRNS sensors, observe changes over time, and analyze the effects of precipitation, evaporation, transpiration, and soil hydraulics.
It is an interactive CRNS simulation with diverse landscapes and scientific scenarios, has a multi-layer soil water model, configurable soil types and hydraulic properties. It simulates a time series for weather, precipitation, and soil moisture includiing evaporation, transpiration, and drainage. The user plans and evaluates irrigation measures, sensor placement and spatial soil moisture analysis in guided missions with scientific explanations.
TAP CRNS combines scientific models with interactive exercises. The app is suitable for students, educators, research communication, and anyone who wants to learn more about soil water, hydrology, and neutron-based environmental measurements.
The app does not require a user account, contains no ads, and does not use any analytics or tracking services. Game scores and settings are stored exclusively on the device.
