About this app
“It is a quarter to twelve.” That's how you say the time, and that's how Quarter To shows it: as glowing words in a grid of letters, right on your home screen.
A calm, beautiful clock instead of digits. It moves on every five minutes, gently fading only the letters that change.
YOUR CLOCK SPEAKS
• English: “it is twenty five past three”
• Français, Español, Deutsch
• Italiano, Português and Nederlands (beta)
• German dialects: Swabian, Bavarian, Swiss German (beta) and the eastern and southern “dreiviertel”
FITS YOUR HOME SCREEN
• Any size: square, wide or tall, letters never get stretched
• Light, Dark and System themes (follows dark mode)
• Optional bold letters for better readability
• On supported devices also on the lock screen
HANDY
• Tap to open the settings, your alarm clock or any app you choose
• Several clocks with their own settings, say one in English and one in French
• Live preview while setting up
PRO: BUY ONCE, USE FOR GOOD
• All German dialects
• Amber and Mint themes, plus a colour of your choice or one from your wallpaper
• See-through background
• More fonts: Outfit, Space Grotesk, Playfair Display, JetBrains Mono and System Mono
• Four minute dots for the minutes between the five-minute steps
No subscription. The preview shows every Pro feature before you buy.
RESPECTS YOUR PRIVACY
No ads, no analytics, no account. Your settings stay on your device.
To change exactly on the minute, the app asks once for permission to set exact alarms. Without it the clock still runs but may lag by a few minutes.
Quarter To is a widget: after installing, long-press an empty spot on your home screen, choose “Widgets” and drag “Quarter To” onto your home screen. The app shows this in a short guide, too.
