The Earth. In motion.

PlanetaryLens brings Earth observations together on an interactive globe and a flat world map. Explore earthquakes, winds, waves and satellite heat detections, with sources and timestamps that help you understand what you are seeing.

EXPLORE FOUR FORCES
• Earthquakes: USGS events with magnitude, depth, time and reported impacts.
• Wind: direction and speed from ground-based airport weather stations.
• Waves: NOAA buoy measurements and clearly identified PacIOOS wave forecasts.
• Fire: a geographically distributed selection of NASA FIRMS VIIRS heat detections from the last 24 hours, filtered from 150 MW. Hotspots are not confirmed wildfires.

LOOK CLOSER
Turn layers on and off, rotate and zoom the globe, switch to the flat map or browse objects in a searchable list. Optional water-level layers show selected coastal and river stations from several countries.

DISCOVER PLACES
Browse 119 reviewed sources covering nature, water, landscapes, volcanoes and wildlife. See provider camera stills, selected timelapses and dated wildlife photos with source links and license credits. Search for a place, camera or provider and save your discoveries locally.

CLEAR ABOUT THE DATA
Measurements may be delayed, incomplete or revised. Forecasts are labeled separately from measurements. Wildlife photos are dated observations. Camera stills refresh periodically; there are no continuous live streams.

YOUR DEVICE, YOUR CHOICE
No account, advertising or analytics SDKs. Saved places stay on your device. No GPS, camera or microphone permission is needed. The globe map is included in the app; online observations and media require an internet connection. Content providers receive technical connection data when their content loads; see the privacy policy for details.

The app uses English by default and German when German is your primary device language. Search accepts English and German catalog names.

PlanetaryLens is an independent observation app, not an official government service, emergency warning system or navigation tool. Do not use it for safety decisions. Coverage varies by provider and region. Data charges may apply.
