German at levels A1 and A2 — vocabulary and grammar in one app, with a flashcard
box that remembers what hasn't stuck yet.
VOCABULARY
• Over 1,800 words. The word list follows the
Goethe-Institut word lists for A1 and A2.
• An example sentence for every single word — no word stands on its own. Words
and sentences are translated into nine languages.
• Sort by 24 topics (Food & Drink, Home & House, Body & Health, Office &
Documents …) or by the 12 chapters of the companion textbook. If you study
with the book, you practise exactly the chapter you are on.
• Six exercise types: flashcards, multiple choice, the article for a noun,
matching pairs, the missing word in a sentence, and the principal parts of
verbs.
OWN WORDS
• Add your own words, for example from class: one at a time or a whole list at
once — from Excel, Google Sheets, a Word table or plain text.
• The app works out by itself which column is which language and splits cells
that hold several words.
• Your own words run through every exercise type and the flashcard box. Under
“My words” you practise exactly your own list.
GRAMMAR
• Over 1,800 tasks across 21 chapters, from word order in the main clause to
subordinate clauses, prepositions and the perfect tense.
• Five task types: fill the gap, form the word, build the sentence, decide true
or false, and flashcards for the rules themselves.
THE FLASHCARD BOX
• Six boxes on the Leitner principle. What sticks moves up and comes back after
1, 2, 4, 8, 16 or 32 days; what doesn't falls back and returns tomorrow.
• Both directions are counted separately. Recognising German is easier than
producing it — the app doesn't pretend otherwise and keeps a separate record
for each direction.
NINE INTERFACE LANGUAGES
German, English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Turkish, Russian, Persian and
Arabic. Menus, explanations and translations switch along with it — Arabic and
Persian run right to left.
NO CATCH
• Works offline. After the first start the app needs no connection.
• No account, no sign-up, no email address.
• No ads, no in-app purchases.
• No data is collected and none is transmitted. Your progress and your own
words stay on the device and can be saved to a file and restored.
