Great, thanks! It would be sooo nice if it could show the average speed of a started "activity". And that you could also pause and resume that activity using a button in (or maybe simply tapping on) the overlay. I'd like to use it as an overlay to the Garmin Varia app when cycling (shows me radar info on vehicles approaching from behind). This way, I could have SPEED, AVG. SPEED, DURATION, AND PAUSE/RESUME overlaid on the Varia app. But I do realise this might not be what you want with your app.

Hi, thanks for your suggestion. Unfortunately I don't think I will include any sort of statistics in the nearby future, because this app is a hobby project and I don't have much free time currently. But I added it to my list of possible features to add in the future.
Best regards

Occasionally, the overlay disappears and restarting the app doesn't seem to bring it back. Restarting the phone seems to work but that's a bit of a heavy handed option. An additional feature I'd like to see: an option to hide the overlay when speed drops below, say, 5mph so it's out of the way when I'm not driving... :-*

Hi, maybe you have enabled the option "Tap to hide"? Then you could show the overlay again using the notification. If that doesn't help, you can email me.
The feature you described would require constant gps usage, which uses a lot of battery. I recommend using the tap to hide feature instead (long tap to hide / notification to show it again).

Great app. Would be great if you could have a timeout on the startup screen. I use this in my car (Carlinkit), and it's set to start on boot up. Just leaves the startup screen that I have to clear each time I start the car. Easy enough to do but would prefer not to have to do... Again, 5/5 for a great app.

Thanks for your feedback! I'm not sure, how Carlinkit works, but speedoverlay has shortcuts to start and toggle the overlay. Maybe you can use those to autostart only the overlay?
I will consider adding some other way to only show the overlay, but can't guarantee if/when this will be done, because the app is a hobby project.
Best
