About this app

Abla! sends messages from phone to phone via Bluetooth, without internet, mobile data, or cellular signal.

When the network goes down—a power outage, an emergency, a dead zone—phones with Abla! find each other and form a network. Your message hops from phone to phone until it reaches the person you're writing to, even if they're out of range at that moment.

HOW IT WORKS

You write a message, and it's saved. When your phone crosses paths with another phone running Abla!, it hands the message off to continue its journey. This continues until it reaches its recipient. You don't need to be near each other at the same time.

The phones carrying your message along the way can't read it.

TRULY NO INTERNET

Abla! doesn't request internet access. This isn't a marketing promise: it's a technical restriction imposed by the operating system, which anyone can verify. The app is unable to establish a network connection.

That means no servers, no accounts, no analytics, and no advertising. We don't collect any data because we have nowhere to put it.

PRIVACY

• End-to-end encryption. Only the person you're writing to can read your message.

• Only people you've accepted can message you. Someone adding you isn't enough: the decision is mutual.

• The identifier your phone emits via Bluetooth changes only every few minutes, so no one can track your movements.

• Everything the app saves is encrypted on your phone and disappears when you uninstall it.

• It doesn't use GPS. Ever.

TO ADD SOMEONE

You have to be together, and there are two ways: scan their QR code, or each of you can choose a temporary alias and search for each other by that name. Both methods rely on being face-to-face, which is something no one can fake remotely.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Talk! It's not instantaneous, and it doesn't hide that. Each message shows its status: in queue, traveling, or delivered. In a network like this, a message can take minutes or hours to arrive, depending on when the people carrying it cross paths. The app tells you the truth at all times.

The Bluetooth range is a few dozen meters. Abla! is for talking to people in your building, your neighborhood, or your campsite, not in another city.

IMPORTANT

Abla! is not a substitute for emergency services. If there is coverage, call your country's emergency number.
