Our Mission
ECHO was born from a simple belief: every journey is better when shared. We saw students struggling to find travel companions, navigating the city alone, and missing out on the connections that make university life meaningful.
Our mission is to create a safe, simple, and meaningful way for students to connect, travel together, and build friendships that extend beyond the journey.

August 2024 - The Beginning
ECHO started as a web application. The idea was simple: help EWU students find travel companions. We launched with basic features, and the response was immediate. Students were tired of traveling alone, and they needed a safe way to connect.
The Evolution
As we listened to our community, we realized students needed more than just a matching platform. They needed real-time notifications, schedule syncing, privacy controls, and a mobile-first experience. So we built it.
Today
ECHO is now a full-featured mobile app that goes beyond basic functionality. We've maintained our focus on safety, privacy, and meaningful connections while adding features that make travel planning effortless.

• Date on notification cards – see when each request was created or updated
• Time on history cards – precise times in travel logs
• Notification permission prompt – one-time popup per app open (when logged in) to enable push notifications; choice saved to your account
• Login no longer hangs – fixed loading state so you no longer need to reopen the app after sign-in
