About this app

Grifel is a fast, private PDF reader and PDF editor for Android. Read, annotate, fill in and sign PDF documents on your phone or tablet. Open a PDF from email, a messenger or your files and it is on screen right away: no sign-in, no ads, no welcome tour.

PDF READER AND VIEWER
• Smooth scrolling and zoom; double-tap zooms into the column of text
• Search text in a PDF with every match highlighted, a list of results, contents and bookmarks
• Tabs for several documents, and two panes side by side on tablets
• Night mode for pages (inverted, soft dark or sepia) and a dark theme
• Read PDF aloud with the voices of your phone, also in the background
• Open password-protected PDFs, copy text and print

ANNOTATE PDF
• Highlight, underline and strike out text; add notes and text boxes
• Draw with a finger or a stylus, or turn a sketch into a neat line, arrow or shape; erase what you do not need
• See all comments in one list and reply to them
• Changes are saved automatically. Undo after saving and the version history keep your documents safe

FILL IN FORMS AND SIGN DOCUMENTS
• Fill in PDF forms, including drop-down lists and check boxes
• Type on any paper form or scan: text snaps to the lines. Add check marks, dates and lines
• Sign PDF documents: draw, type or import your signature and initials. They stay encrypted on your phone
• Send a flattened copy, so the filled-in fields and markup can no longer be changed

PDF SCANNER AND PHOTO TO PDF
• Scan paper documents and receipts to PDF with automatic edge detection
• Convert photos and images (JPG, PNG) to PDF: one file or a PDF for each image

ORGANIZE PAGES FOR FREE
• Rotate, delete, duplicate and reorder PDF pages

PREMIUM
• Compress PDF files to send them by email or in a messenger
• Merge PDF files and images into one PDF; split a PDF into several files
• Insert, extract and crop pages
• Protect a PDF with a password (AES-256), or remove the password from a PDF you can open
• Convert PDF pages to JPG or PNG images
The yearly plan starts with a 7-day free trial. Cancel anytime in Google Play.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Your documents are processed on your phone and are never uploaded. No account, no ads, no ad tracking. Anonymous usage statistics and crash reports are optional and never include file names or document content.

Grifel works offline, in English, Spanish, French, German and Russian.
