About this app

Zorkel is a QR code scanner and barcode reader for Android with no ads and no internet permission. Point the camera at a code and see what is inside before anything opens. Scanning is free and is never locked behind a paywall.

QR CODE SCANNER AND BARCODE READER
• Scan QR codes and barcodes with the camera: the app opens on the camera and reads a code without a button press
• Reads QR Code, Micro QR, Data Matrix, Aztec, PDF417, EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E, Code 128, Code 39, Code 93, ITF, Codabar and GS1 DataBar
• Flashlight for dark places; pinch or slider zoom for small and distant codes
• Works offline: codes are read on your phone

SCAN A QR CODE FROM AN IMAGE
• Scan a QR code from a photo or screenshot in your gallery, through the system photo picker and without a storage permission
• Share a picture from another app to Zorkel to read the code in it
• Several codes in one picture? Pick the one you need from a list

CHECK A LINK BEFORE YOU OPEN IT
• Check the link in a QR code before you open it: you see the full address, with the site name in bold
• Warnings for common phishing tricks: no https, look-alike letters in the site name, a shortened link, a login before “@”, an IP address instead of a name, a well-known brand used only as a prefix
• Nothing opens by itself. A link, a call or a Wi-Fi connection starts only when you tap
• The check reads the address only, on your phone. It cannot tell whether the site itself is safe

WI-FI QR CODES, CONTACTS, EVENTS AND MORE
• Wi-Fi QR code: connect to the network (Android 11 and later) or copy the password
• Contact (vCard, MeCard): add to contacts, call or write an email
• Event: add to your calendar
• Email, phone number, SMS, location: open in the right app with the fields filled in
• Product barcode (EAN, UPC, ISBN): search the web for the number
• Any code: copy, share, add to favorites

SCAN HISTORY
• Scanned and created codes are kept in a searchable history on your phone
• Favorites, and filters for scanned and created codes
• Turn history off or clear it at any time

QR CODE GENERATOR
• Create a QR code for a link, text, a Wi-Fi network, a contact, an email, a phone number, an SMS or a location
• Save the QR code as a picture or share it
• Share text or a link from another app to turn it into a QR code

PRO (OPTIONAL PURCHASE)
• Batch scanning: scan one code after another without stopping; repeats are skipped
• Export scan history to CSV for a spreadsheet: stock, events, inventory
• QR codes in color, with rounded or dotted modules, and a warning when the contrast is too low to scan

PRIVATE: NO ADS, NO TRACKING
• A QR scanner with no ads, no analytics and no account
• The only permission the app asks you for is the camera. It has no internet permission, so it cannot send your scans anywhere
• A code leaves the app only when you open, share or copy it yourself
• History stays on your phone and is not included in cloud backup
