About this app

Focus is easier when something else is keeping time for you.

Pomaru is a pomodoro timer built on the classic technique: you work in blocks of about 25 minutes, take a short break, and after a few rounds you earn a long one. Simple on the surface. What makes it different is what happens once you put the phone down.

A timer that does not drift, and does not quit

Most timers lose track the moment the system decides your app is no longer important. Pomaru runs on the phone's exact alarms, so a block ends exactly when it should: with the screen off, with the app closed, after a reboot, after a clock change, even if the app updates mid-session. Leave the phone in the other room and trust it.

The notification carries a live countdown and real controls, so you can pause, skip, resume or end the session from there, depending on the phase, without opening the app. On Android 16 and up it becomes a Live Update, with a chip in the status bar. Every phase ends with a sound and a vibration, so you do not have to keep checking.

Every finished block is a tomato

Finish a focus block and you earn a tomato. Tomatoes feed a daily streak and earn you XP, and there are 12 achievements waiting along the way. It is a small loop, but it is the reason tomorrow happens: not discipline, just not wanting to break the chain. Set a daily goal of 1 to 16 cycles and watch the day fill up.

Pomaru keeps you company while it runs, in its own voice. "Pomaru is focusing." And at the end of a good day, "Pomaru calls it a day!"

Good for a study session, a work sprint, writing, practice, chores. Anything that goes better in rounds than in one long push.

The app sends nothing, anywhere

No ads. No account. No subscription. No tracking, no analytics, no data collection of any kind. Pomaru does not even ask for internet permission, so it cannot send anything anywhere, and you can verify that yourself in the app's permission list. Your history lives on your device. Android's own backup may copy it to your Google account, like any app — that is the system, not us, and you control it in Android settings.

Start with one block

Twenty-five minutes. One tomato. Tomorrow, two. 🍅
A pomodoro timer that never drifts. No ads, no account, no tracking
