StarLight is an Android app that forwards messages received via messenger notifications to a custom script bot and automatically replies according to the bot's settings. You can create and run command bots, notification bots, and information lookup bots directly on your phone using JavaScript, and you can build bots by conversing with the built-in AI agent without knowing how to write code.
■ How It Works
1. It reads new message notifications from messenger apps (default: KakaoTalk) using notification access permissions.
2. It passes the room name, sender, and message content to the onMessage function of the enabled bot project.
3. When the bot replies, it sends the message to the corresponding chat room via the notification's reply function.
All processing takes place on the mobile phone, and received messages are not sent to the developer server. You can directly determine which apps' notifications to receive in the package rules in the settings.
■ Bot Project
• Two JavaScript engines: Rhino and NeonJS (supports ES modules, async/await, fetch, and WebSocket)
• Step-by-step project creation: Start code is generated by selecting the name, language, events to receive, and language settings in order.
• Turn features on/off per project, compile, set events to receive, favorites, search, and sort
• Export projects as zip files and import them to back up or transfer them to other devices.
■ Code Editor
• Touch-optimized editor: Syntax highlighting, autocomplete, event function snippets, syntax checking
• Find and replace, line skipping, multiple file tabs, file tree, theme and font size settings
• Auto-save before compilation, Rhino projects display lines with errors
■ Debug Room
A test chat room where you can send messages to the bot and check replies immediately within the app without a messenger. You can test by changing the sender, room name, and whether it is a group chat, and you can also preview photos and files sent by the bot.
** ■ StarLight AI (Optional Feature)
This is a coding agent that operates using an AI service directly connected by the user. When you make a request, such as "Build a bot that responds to !weather commands," it creates a project, writes and modifies the code, compiles it, tests it directly in the debug room, and provides the results.
• Supported Services: Anthropic, ChatGPT account login, OpenAI, Google Gemini, OpenRouter, OpenAI-compatible servers
• Attach photos/files, display task plans, revert changes, view changes
• Important tasks, such as deleting or toggling a project on or off, require user approval before execution.
• The task continues with progress notifications even after the app is closed, and you can stop it at any time from the notification.
To use AI features, an API key or account for each service is required, and usage fees are billed by the respective service. Conversation content, attachments, and project files read by the agent are sent only to the AI service selected by the user. Please review the code generated by the AI before execution.
** ■ Sending Photos/Files
You can send photos, videos, and files from the bot script to the chat room (MediaSharer.send). This utilizes the messenger's sharing features, and the 'Display over other apps' permission is required for this.
■ Home Screen and History
• Widgets with resizable position and size: Bot status, error monitor, running tasks, message activity, script values, logs
• View logs and error details by project, set log retention periods
■ Required Permissions and Reasons
• Access to notifications: Required to read messenger message notifications and reply using the notification reply function.
• Display over other apps: Required for the bot to continue running in the background and to send photos and files to the chat room.
• Notifications: Displays the bot's execution status and AI task progress.
• Battery Optimization Exception (Recommended): Prevents the bot from stopping even when the phone is in standby mode.
• Internet: Used for connecting to AI services and web requests from the bot script.
The "StarLight Running" notification is displayed while the bot is running.
■ User Guide
• Operates on Android 8.0 or higher.
• The Google Play version does not support external plugins or in-app updates.
• Please adhere to the terms of service of each messenger service when using the bot.
