QuietInbox keeps a private, encrypted copy of what your messaging apps post to the notification shade, so you can read it later without opening the chat — and without the other side ever seeing a read receipt.
WHAT IT DOES
• Saves the text of notifications from the apps you choose (LINE, WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram, Messenger or any other messaging app) into an encrypted vault on this phone.
• Groups copies by conversation, with the sender, the source time and the time the copy was made.
• Full-text search in Chinese, Japanese, Korean and English, activity insights (heat map, rankings, best time, quiet days, emoji and catchphrases), and encrypted backup with a recovery key.
• Honest labels: when a sender is inferred, a preview was hidden, or a message may be a repeat, the copy says so.
FOUR PROMISES
1. Nothing leaves this phone. The app has no INTERNET permission at all — you can verify it in any permission viewer. No analytics, no ads, no crash reporting.
2. Reading a copy never marks the source as read and never replies. QuietInbox never touches the original notification.
3. Only what a source app puts in a notification can be captured. Gaps are shown, never hidden.
4. Everything is stored with SQLCipher (AES-256) under a key that exists only on this device and is protected by the Android Keystore.
HOW IT WORKS
QuietInbox uses Android's standard notification access (Notification Listener). You grant it once in system settings; the app then keeps copies only for the sources you enable, for as long as you choose (1–365 days). You can pause capture, delete a message or a whole conversation, or wipe everything including the keys.
LIMITS, STATED PLAINLY
• If a source app does not post a notification (muted chat, Do Not Disturb, "hide content" settings), there is nothing to copy.
• Long conversations are captured as the last few messages shown in the notification; older history is not available.
• Images are copied only when the source app exposes them in the notification and you turn "Copy images" on.
OPEN SOURCE
QuietInbox is free software under the GPL-3.0-or-later licence. The source code and a free build are on GitHub (github.com/ImL1s/quietinbox). Buying it on Google Play gives you automatic updates and supports development; the features are identical.
Notification access is used solely to create your own local copies. QuietInbox does not read messages from other apps' storage and has no way to send data anywhere.
Encrypted on-device copies of your chat notifications. No internet permission.
