Turn your speech into text with Nilo. Speech recognition runs on your Android device using Whisper, so your voice and transcripts are not sent to a cloud transcription service.
Download a speech model once, or import a compatible model file, then dictate offline. Choose a smaller model for speed or a larger model for accuracy. Recognition speed and accuracy depend on your device, model, language and recording conditions. Review your text before sending it.
Use the floating microphone to dictate while writing in other apps. Nilo offers an optional Accessibility service to insert the words you dictate into the focused text field while you keep your usual keyboard. The service reads the focused editable field and basic window state for insertion; screen contents are not uploaded. Password fields are excluded. You can decline Accessibility and use the Nilo keyboard or copy your transcript to the clipboard instead.
Personalize your dictation with a dictionary for names and specialist terms, spoken snippets for reusable text, and formatting preferences. Keep an optional local transcript history, delete entries, or clear it whenever you choose.
No Nilo account or advertising. Microphone access is used for dictation, and a notification lets you stop the dictation service. Display over other apps permission enables the floating microphone. Internet access is used for model downloads and Google Play services. These providers may process technical request and diagnostic information under their privacy policies; speech recognition stays on your device.
Nilo requires Android 8.0 or later on a supported 64-bit ARM device with a microphone. Speech models use additional storage and memory.
