Step by Step is a daily trivia puzzle: five things come up each day and must be arranged in the correct order according to a numerical criterion. A sorting game, a trivia game, and a weekly league with your group of friends.
Which country is more populous? Which movie grossed the most? Which lake is wider? You don't need to know the exact answer, just know the order.
THREE ATTEMPTS
After each attempt you get a hint: which row is exactly in place, which is one row off, which is far away. The sooner you guess correctly, the more points you get.
THE REAL GAME IS IN THE GROUP
Form a group, share the link with your friends, and compete in the weekly leaderboard.
The puzzle is the same for everyone, so saying "I guessed it on the second try" has meaning. The person who beat you yesterday is the one playing you today.
THE SAME PUZZLE FOR EVERYONE
The puzzle of the day is the same for everyone in the world and changes at midnight. There's a free mode if you want to play as much as you like: you choose the category, difficulty,
and how many pens to arrange. Free puzzles write in their own
weekly leaderboard: points are calculated based on difficulty, number of pens, and how many
attempts it took to solve it.
The league score for the puzzle of the day is separate. Everyone solves the same puzzle there, so the ranking measures skill.
SHARE THE RESULT, DON'T LEAK THE ANSWER
When finished, a grid appears: showing how many attempts it took to solve it,
but not the answer. When you send it to a friend, it doesn't spoil their game.
WHERE DOES THE DATA COME FROM?
Numbers are manually filtered, and the source of each category is written below the puzzle.
Unrecognized pens and disputed values don't enter the game:
the quality of a puzzle is only as good as its weakest member.
