Follow Ida and Emil towards the Danish subject's new goals in reading, spelling and writing. The starting point is fun and motivating reading and writing training, and students are shown the way from reading and spelling correct words to reading and writing more complex texts.

FROM SOUND TO READING
Secure acquisition of an aurally based reading and spelling strategy should be followed up with the learning of supplementary word reading strategies and good writing habits, where students have the opportunity to work with reading and writing at their own pace. "Ida and Emil towards new goals" makes it easy to organize this differentiation.

The activities in "Ida and Emil towards new goals" are varied and structured so that the students cannot progress to a new level until they have been successful at the previous level. The students consolidate their knowledge of the most frequent words in Danish and the most important rules for vowel glides and conditional pronunciations. This ensures a systematic development of the students' functional reading and writing skills.

READING FOCUS AREAS
"Ida and Emil towards new goals" is digital reading training built around reading and spelling words and sentences, reading fiction and facts as well as preparing process-oriented writing exercises. As in stage 1, there is also the option of audio reading support in stage 2. By completing a series of learning games, students gain a secure knowledge of the reading, writing and spelling strategies that pave the way for fluent and independent reading and writing. The games thus lead students through graded activities within:

• Spelling words with vowel glides and complex graphemes
• Reading words with vowel glides and conditional pronunciations
• Reading sentences with a focus on logical inferences
• Sentence writing with a focus on syntax
• Vocabulary and language comprehension
• Reading fiction with compulsory reading comprehension on and between the lines
• Process-oriented writing workshops with a focus on graphic models
• Reading factual texts with comprehension activities across the texts

This structure makes it possible to follow the students' continued reading and writing development, to give all students the necessary training at their level and to work individually with the consolidation of advanced spelling rules, effective reading strategies and good writing habits. Via the teacher login, you as a teacher have the opportunity to continuously follow the students' progress while they work with "Ida and Emil towards new goals".

The app can be used alone or as a supplement to the other materials in the reading system "The first reading".
