About this app

VIDI FieldView is a work tool for fitters who operate AVK valves in water and utility companies.

Access requires an invitation. The app is not for private use. Your employer creates the account and invites you by email. If you have downloaded the app without being invited, you cannot log in and no data about you is processed.

HOW IT WORKS

The app runs while you work. If you come within a few meters of a valve that your company has registered, a session starts automatically and a sound is played as a notification. If you move away again, the session ends. Don't forget to press start and stop.

Along the way, the app reads the AVK sensor on the valve key via Bluetooth: movement, temperature, battery level and signal strength. Based on the measurements, it is determined whether the valve was actually turned and how much. The measurements are continuously sent along with the time and position.

MAP FUNCTION

Your location, pipelines and the valves your company has added are displayed on a map. Switch between map and satellite. At the bottom of the screen you can see the distance to the nearest valve, whether a session is in progress, which sensors are currently responding and how much data has been sent.

SESSION LOG

Sessions that need validation are in the log with address and date. You just need to confirm whether the valve was turned and what action you performed. If there were several valves close to each other, you select the correct one on the map.

IN THE FIELD

If you lose coverage, data will be stored on the phone and sent when the connection is restored. The GPS will automatically adjust itself depending on whether you are walking or standing still, so the battery will last all day.

PERMISSIONS

Location, also in the background. Without it, the app cannot see when you are at a valve. As long as the tracking is running, there is a permanent notification in the status bar.

Bluetooth. Used to read the sensors on the valve keys.

Physical activity. Used only on the phone to adjust GPS accuracy. Not transmitted.

Position and measurements for a valve are linked to your username and can be viewed centrally by your employer as documentation of work performed. Tracking can be turned off in the settings, but the app will not work without it.
