Discover ancient Rome where it takes shape. Experience the Museum of the Forma Urbis and the Caelian Archaeological Park through an experience that combines historical content and multimedia technologies.
The app guides visitors in exploring the Forma Urbis Severiana, the great marble map of Rome, through a system of progressive clues that leads to the discovery of places and monuments of the ancient city. Once the correct location has been identified, augmented reality can be activated to view a three-dimensional reconstruction of the monument directly in the surrounding space.
Many other objects along the museum route can also be explored using the app. By standing in front of the Statue of Victory of the Simmaci, visitors can view the missing parts through an augmented reality reconstruction.
In the Caelian Archaeological Park, a 360° photosphere is available, allowing visitors to overlay the current panorama with the three ancient monuments that once characterized the Roman-era skyline.
The experience is supported by location-based notifications that suggest activating content in the different areas of the museum. The app is free of charge.
Note: some features require Bluetooth and an internet connection.
