About this app

The MiHome App helps you manage your Energenie MiHome smart devices remotely including the control of heating, lighting and electrical devices whether you are home or away.

The feature-rich intelligent MiHome App takes just a few steps to set up and allows the setting of timers, the viewing of live real time and historical energy usage information and the use of Geofencing to control your home based on your location.

The Mi|Home range of devices includes smart plugs, smart light switches, smart wall sockets, smart motion sensors, smart thermostats, smart door and window sensors, smart radiator valves and the new Wifi Smart Plug. Add new MiHome devices to the app in a few simple steps. MiHome devices work with Alexa, Google Home and IFTTT.

The MiHome app requires access to your phones camera to allow for the scanning of device QR codes (MIHO001 Gateway only).

The MiHome app requires access to your notifications to allow your sensors to provide alerts to your phone.

The MiHome app requires access to your location to allow for the use of Geofencing to trigger devices when entering or leaving an area set by the user, either in the background or while using the app.

Looks like the team have lost interest. Notifications have never worked and the app stalls if you go back to it after a while, then needs killing and restarting. WiFi plugs (that don't need a hub) drop off the network regularly and need a power cycle to get them back, not convenient when they are tucked away because of their supposed remote ability and doesn't always fix connectivity, even dedicating a 2.4GHz network to them. Using TP-Link Tapo going forward for me now.

Long time user of energenie stuff. More recently upgraded many built in sockets and light switches. The system is good and certainly up there with the competition, whilst remaining cheaper. Lightwave appear to be the only true alternative, but they equally have their issues and at a higher price point. There are improvements to be made: latency can be annoyingly sketchy at times and the app is really quite terrible, but I mostly use Google home (via IFTTT or Yonomi) so it's OK.

This app has so much potential and I'm pleased to see some of the worst problems have been fixed (possibly due to me updating to Android pie). The single biggest remaining problemi have is the app has a tendency to crash. Generally when using the app for any extended period it will crash out and have to be restarted, this seems to extend to notifications stopping working after a period of time.
