About this app

Know your blood alcohol — and when it wears off.

DrinkPal estimates your blood alcohol level during a night out and tells you roughly when you should be sober again. Log what you drink, watch the curve rise and fall, and get a notification the moment the estimate says you are clear.

Scan the bottle, skip the menus

📷 Point your camera at any bottle barcode

📷 Known bottles are logged in a single tap

📷 New ones are saved to your library with name, type and ABV, pre-filled from Open Food Facts

📷 Your bottle library keeps working offline afterwards

See the whole night

How the estimate works

DrinkPal uses the Widmark method with Watson total body water, based on your sex, weight, height and age, plus how full your stomach was when you started. Food slows how fast alcohol reaches your blood, so it changes the shape of the curve. Elimination is deliberately set on the cautious side, which means DrinkPal will tend to tell you that you are sober later rather than earlier.

Available in English, Polish, Spanish, German, Italian and Chinese.

Important

DrinkPal is a calculator, not a breathalyser and not a medical device. It cannot measure anything. Real blood alcohol varies enormously between people and depends on metabolism, health, medication and much else that no app can see. Being below a legal limit is not the same as being fit to drive.

Never use this app to decide whether to drive. If you have been drinking, do not drive.

What’s new

Still not sober? History now shows how much is left in you.

• Past sessions display your current promile until the estimate reaches zero
• The sober notification names the exact hour, and now makes a sound on Android
• Times after midnight show the date, so a long night reads correctly
• Backups and exports confirm when they have actually saved
• Total session time now sits next to the start and end times
