About this app

GoProFor is an app that will guide you on a journey through the Italian territory, taking you to visit some of the best practices that combine forest management and biodiversity conservation directly in the woods.
These good practices have been implemented by LIFE projects carried out in Italy and aimed at the conservation of nature in the forest environment.
The app was developed within the LIFE GoProFor project, with the aim of sharing and disseminating the best results deriving from the experience of LIFE projects, and to let you see with your own eyes the concrete results of the actions and activities that contribute to the management and conservation of our forests.
The good practices selected can be of various kinds: from real forest interventions, to activities that favor animal species closely linked to forest environments, to interventions for the fight and containment of invasive species that threaten our forests, up to planning and governance, which promote better forest management.
The app shows you a selection of good practices, distributed in the various Italian regions. By selecting the best practice of your interest, the navigator will take you to the nearest place that can be reached by car, and the app will guide you along the path on foot to see the actions carried out directly in the forest. You will therefore be able to verify, even after many years, the visible effects of the interventions and activities implemented.
In addition, each good practice is accompanied by easy-to-read multimedia material, that is a concise video-interview with the protagonists of the projects and the material executors of the good practices, a brief descriptive sheet, and finally the link to access the more in-depth technical sheet contained in the LIFE GoProFor Good Practices Database.
Finally, as part of the GoProFor project, training activities were carried out, characterized by a practical-application part conducted directly in the forest, in open-air gyms specially created by the project.
The app will then also guide you to exercise gyms, where you will find a path for recognizing tree microhabitats and a marteloscope, built according to the protocols established by the Integrate Network project (https://integratenetwork.org/).
