Lauta, Sorbian Łuty, with the districts of Laubusch, Leippe, Torno and Johannisthal, is a small town in the north of the Saxon district of Bautzen with currently around 8,200 inhabitants. Lauta was granted city rights on February 1, 1965.
Surrounded by heathland, Lauta forms the "Green Gate to the Lusatian Lake District".
The infrastructure in the city of Lauta is balanced: there are two elementary schools, one secondary school, four day-care centers and other childcare options on site.
