How many times do Basque speakers have to ask for Basque in a shop and have to endure strange faces, inappropriate responses or requests to change the language? In our country, we can't speak our language. At home, we're a stranger. This situation is not just an individual experience, but the daily reality of many Basque speakers. That's why some Basque speakers have come together and launched the 'Gure Txokoak' website and app, with the aim of expanding the possibilities of living in Basque.

We wanted to make a guide to businesses, services and spaces that provide services in Basque available to everyone, so that Basque speakers can conveniently consult which bars, restaurants, shops, services, halls, youth centres, etc. are where we can speak Basque comfortably when we are travelling around the Basque Country. This guide is not only practical, but also a tool to keep Basque alive and promote it.

We created the project in the context of local work, and we would like to foster it among all Basque speakers. Therefore, we would be grateful if you could create an account with us and suggest txos in your town, city or neighbourhood that offer services entirely (or almost entirely) in Basque! Your contribution is very important to complete this guide and make it useful for all Basque speakers.
