About this app

ExCare BR is a surgical risk model developed for healthcare professionals working in the perioperative period. Data from more than 100,000 patients operated on in hospitals in different regions of Brazil were collected for its construction. The result is an estimate of postoperative in-hospital mortality for patients over 16 years of age undergoing surgeries of different specialties.

Its results are compatible with those of traditional models used in developed countries, having the advantage of being constructed with data from patients in Brazil and using only a few preoperative variables. Patients with a predicted risk of death > 5% and a very high risk > 10% are considered to be at high risk.

The multicentric aspect of the model increases its generalization capacity, capturing potential differences in care processes. The user can store all the procedures in which he has used the application. User can save his calculation history for personal record.

Like other existing risk models, the ExCare BR should be used as an auxiliary tool for global risk assessment, facilitating decision-making, multidisciplinary discussions and implementation of differentiated care according to the severity of the case. The reference model developed by the ExCare Research Group has already proven effective in improving outcomes for high-risk patients when used as part of a package of measures to enhance postoperative care.
