Point your camera at Chinese text and see Pinyin or Zhuyin (Bopomofo) right on the screen. A quick way to check how to read a sign, a menu or a notice, even offline.
HOW IT HELPS
• Live overlay: readings appear over the characters on the camera view.
• Freeze the frame: tap the shutter to pause, then review a clean list with the reading above every character.
• Pinyin or Zhuyin: switch with one tap.
• Taiwan Mandarin or Mainland (Putonghua) standard: words that are read differently (e.g. 垃圾, 星期) follow the standard you choose, and words with several readings (e.g. 銀行) are read in context.
• Vertical text: signs and menus written vertically are attempted too.
• Works offline: readings come from a built-in dictionary, so no connection is needed.
OPTIONAL AI ASSIST
If recognition is shaky, add your own Gemini API key and re-read the image with AI from the capture screen. Entirely optional.
FREE AND PRO
• Free: all reading features, with a small ad banner.
• Pro (one-time purchase, no subscription): no ads, and save your scans as records to revisit later.
PLEASE NOTE
Accuracy depends on what you photograph, lighting and angle, and on Android's built-in text recognition, so results are not guaranteed. For anything important, double-check with a dictionary.
PRIVACY
The camera image is processed on your device. The only data sent off the device is an image you choose to re-read with your own Gemini API key, and ad requests in the free version. No sign-up.
Available in English, Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, French, Thai and Vietnamese.
