Know the speed rule before you get there.
No Wake Zones shows every Florida STATE manatee protection zone and boating safety zone published by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), colored by the rule in effect right now: idle speed / no wake, slow speed / minimum wake, posted mph limits, no entry, motorboats prohibited.
MORE THAN THE CHART
A nautical chart shows where a zone is. No Wake Zones tells you what it means for you, now:
• The rule in effect at this moment, worked out from each zone's season, hours, nights, weekends and holidays (Florida time)
• Rules no chart draws: Everglades National Park zones and corridors (pole/troll, idle, no motor, closed), and local shoreline rules set by distance from shore (Martin County, Polk County lakes, Lee County and Sanibel beaches, Marco Island, Fernandina Beach)
• Restricted areas from NOAA charts (Coast Guard security zones, military areas, Florida Keys sanctuary closures), with an alert where entry is prohibited
• Tap the map: what the NOAA chart says at that point (restricted or caution area, channel, depth), next to the zone sheets
• The official text, the legal reference and links to the sources for every zone
ALERTS BEFORE YOU ENTER (PRO)
• Spoken, sound and vibration alerts before you enter a zone, at your speed and heading
• "On my course" mode: pass alongside a zone without false alarms; alerts only when your course leads in
• Works with the screen off and the phone in your pocket
• Entry, exit and rule changes (season, night, weekends) announced; speed warning where a mph limit is posted
• Optional "repeat until acknowledged", with a pause after OK
FREE FOR EVERYONE
• The map of all zones, colored by the rule in effect now
• Tap any zone: readable rule, full schedule, official text and sources
• "Rule here": the rule at your position in one tap
• Layers: manatee zones, boating safety zones, local speed zones, Everglades National Park, NOAA restricted areas, coral reefs and hardbottom (FWC-FWRI Unified Reef Map), temporary closures
• NOAA nautical chart or street map
• Zone data updates, always free
• English and Spanish · phones & tablets
MANATEE SEASON
Many manatee zones change on November 15 and again in spring. The app follows each zone's own calendar.
WHAT IT COVERS, HONESTLY
No Wake Zones covers Florida STATE zones (FWC, rules 68C-22 and 68D-24) and only the local and federal zones listed in the app. Other city, county and federal zones may be missing. Local areas set by distance from shore are computed from an approximate shoreline. FWC data are for general reference and are not to be used for navigation. When a rule could not be read reliably, the app shows the official text and never a guessed speed.
Not a navigation aid. Posted signs and regulations prevail.
