This app should be removed from the Play store until it can be properly tested & released. This is an absolute embarrassment to the UAV community. You'd think with all the horrible feedback, the developers might take note and make some improvements (or perhaps just start over)... but this is truly awful. For such a crucial and urgently needed application, this is the worst possible implementation. MANY better, stable alternatives available. It's really sad to see this app is actually being updated, but remains such a useless waste of memory.
As a commercial pilot I find this app to be very useful when flying my RC glider. Except there is one MAJOR problem: The rules require you to contact the airport operator or tower if you are within 5 miles and the app gives you all the airport information except their phone number. Without a phone number 98% of people will never make the contact they are required to make, which makes this app pointless.
App is OK, kinda clunky and crashes more than it should. But the ignorance of some of the people's comments are scary. Please read the Advisory Circular people and learn how to read a terminal chart.
For the people that criticize this tool, they really need to understand the 5 mile rule, and you really need to understand what airspace you are in. If you are in class B airspace (recreation or 107), the surface zone can be bigger than 5 miles and not shaped like a circle (YOU MUST COMPLY). I live near IAH and at some points its out 10 miles. Also there are different rules for 107 recipients that recreational pilots. STOP crying and read the rules or take a class.
Another slow and buggy production of bureaucracy which offers questionable data, when it works. Tried on multiple platforms, all new high performance devices.
Don't waste your time downloading this horrible app. Slow as snails and crashes more than it works.
Our new Privacy Notification encourages drone operators to follow the National Telecommunications & Information Administration’s Multi-stakeholder Process to protect privacy rights. In addition, the FAA has established restrictions prohibiting UAS/drones/model aircraft from flying over certain sensitive locations across the country. Our new links to these restrictions make you aware of these locations prior to flying your aircraft.
