Brought to you by NYC Cyber Command, NYC Secure alerts users to cyber threats such as:

● unsecure or “rogue” Wi-Fi networks;
● hijacking online transactions; and,
● phishing detection and education tools.

The app alerts you to threats and recommends ways you can protect your data and device.

You have the option to enable a VPN in the NYC Secure app to verify if suspicious links sent to you through text, email, a messaging app, or social media are safe or a possible phishing attempt.

Same as others are reporting, over the last few months the has started drain in ng my battery, as of this morning this app was responsible for 44% of battery usage in the last 24 hours. That said I've had this installed on my last three phones and like the functionality it provides... But not the recent battery eating behaviour.

The app suddenly started eating up the battery in July 2022. I uninstalled and reinstalled. 3 days later I discovered it hasn't done a security check since reinstalled and it won't do a manual check. Something went wrong with this app in July. Please fix.

This app is a huge battery drainer. I noticed very decreased battery life in my Google pixel 6 pro. I finally went to battery usage and I saw that this app was Using I kid you not, 47% of my battery in the background and for nearly 12 hours. I checked back a hour or so late and I saw that it went down to 40%. It's crazy because the other highest percentage being used by an app was just a mere 3%. If you are experiencing a problem with the battery life on your phone this app may be why.
