The app "Gusse - Epilepsy" is an introduction to a patient course for the youngest children, their family and
social circle. The purpose is to prepare and secure children who have little experience with equipment and concepts
meetings at the hospital.
The information is with a narrator - with a child's voice - and animation in the genre "Learning through play with tablet/mobile phone".
Children in this age group learn and experience through play and concrete information. Hospitalized children can quickly become overwhelmed by a lot of information. That is why "Gusse - Epilepsy" is made up of short sequences suitable for younger children.
The stories reflect reality and current clinical guidelines. Healthcare professionals can use this material as an educational tool to create a common understanding with the child.
"Gusse - Epilepsy" is a Norwegian version of the Danish "HC And - Epilepsy", which was developed in collaboration between H.C. Andersen Børne- og Ungehospital, Odense University Hospital, hospitalized children and their families and 10:30 Visual Communication.
The app "Gusse - Epilepsy" with Norwegian speech was developed in collaboration with Else B. Stålen, clinical neurophysiology section and epilepsy nurses at the Children's and Adolescent Clinic, St. Olavs Hospital, University Hospital in Trondheim.
