About this game

Build an oil company from a single region to the whole world. Deep Frontier is a strategy game about oil exploration and field development from 2027 to 2046. You weigh the risks, bid for licenses, drill, develop and play by each country's rules.

SEVEN OIL PROVINCES
North Sea & Barents Sea, Gulf of Mexico, Santos & Campos (Brazil), Guyana & Suriname, Gulf of Guinea, Persian Gulf and North West Australia. Together they hold more than 100 fields with real-world names. Every region has its own rules, taxes and hazards, from hurricanes and cyclones to OPEC+ cuts.

SEALED-BID LICENSING ROUNDS
Bid work programs, cash bonuses, the state's share of profit oil or a fee per barrel, depending on what the country demands. Rumors and data packages give hints, but they are sometimes wrong.

EXPLORE, DRILL AND DEVELOP
Shoot seismic and pick a rig that suits the water depth: land rig, jack-up, semi-submersible or drillship. Develop discoveries with subsea wells (tied back to a host up to 140 km away), FPSOs, platforms or onshore plants, each with its own cost, capacity and build time. Add infill wells and extra production units to boost output.

REAL-WORLD FISCAL REGIMES (SIMPLIFIED)
Concessions with tax and royalty, production sharing contracts (PSC) and service contracts decide how much you keep.

RIVALS AND MARKETS
Six computer-controlled oil companies bid against you, drill and open offices in new regions. The oil price moves, and events such as tight rig markets, supply-chain bottlenecks and interest rate hikes change your plans. You can borrow from the bank against your reserves.

TRACK YOUR COMPANY
You get an annual report with cash flow, production charts, a field portfolio and news from your rivals. The company with the highest value after 20 years wins.

FREE TO PLAY
The game is free. Once per in-game year you can choose to watch an ad for a small bonus. Premium is a one-time purchase that gives you the bonus without ads, a sandbox mode (up to 30 years, starting cash and oil price) and a premium badge. Boosts are available to buy, but games where you use them don't count towards your records.

Rules are simplified. The companies in the game are fictional.
