The Nippon Foundation was established in 1962, originally as “Japan Shipbuilding Industry Foundation” as an organization with the legal right to administer grants in wide range of fields such as including sports, education, and social welfare. Scholarship programs are one of the long-lasting programs at The Nippon Foundation, and our scholarship recipients expand globally. Today, we have more than 40,000 scholars whom we consider as an important family member of the Nippon Foundation.
