About this game

You take a wrong turn somewhere after dark. The road stops being a road, the trees close in, and your headlights find a painted board with one word on it: Shanti.

It is a roadside restaurant. The kind you have driven past a hundred times without stopping. Hours from the nearest town, deep in the jungle, and it is still open. Someone has laid the tables.

You drive as far as the road lets you. After that you run. In between you go through Shanti room by room, working out what happened here, and every answer is worse than the question that got you to it.

The horror here is Indian. Not a haunted Western mansion with a candelabra and a butler. A dhaba on a forest road, a generator that cuts out, and a voice speaking a language you understand saying things you would rather not understand. If you grew up on ghost stories told during night journeys, you already know this place.

Most horror games hand you a corridor and a jump scare. This one hands you a building you can walk all the way around in 3D, and lets you find out on your own which room you should not have opened.

Shanti is an offline horror game in the real sense. No internet, no signal, no data. Once it is installed, the jungle is on your phone whether you have bars or not.

Free to play.

Play it with headphones and the lights off. It is worse that way, which is the point.
