We didn’t want to open a restaurant. We just love to eat well.
We love the feeling when you sit down with your friends, order a good burger, and the whole thing has an atmosphere. A place where food is not just food, but an experience.
Árpi had a small burger joint. The place was simple, a bit shabby, but the quality of the food was on a whole different level. Balázs wandered in once, and then kept coming back. Finally, he invited his brother, András, too.
After the first tasting together, it was clear: the flavors, the proportions, the textures were okay. But the place deserved more than that. That’s when the idea was born to create a place where they themselves would like to sit down. A place with good burgers, burritos, and a real atmosphere.
They also brought the perspective they learned from their father from their childhood: a good caterer not only provides food, but also creates an experience. Attentiveness, humor and consistency are at least as important as the quality of the ingredients.
This is how BUBU was born in Zugló.
Every decision in the kitchen is conscious. The beef arrives fresh so that the burgers remain juicy and full of character. The buns are made according to a long-tested recipe, exactly as these burgers need to be. The sauces are their own flavors, with fresh ingredients that make the overall effect unique.
We don't just think about burgers. The tortillas used for burritos and tacos are made according to a Mexican family recipe, so the flavors are often new and exciting even for those who try them for the first time.
Our goal was not a place on an assembly line. We wanted a stable point in the neighborhood that is worth stopping by. For a quick dinner, a chat, or just a good burger.
It's important to us that guests become familiar over time. To have returning faces that we can greet by name. To build the atmosphere of the place together with those who come to us.
For us, these moments mean the most. When someone returns. When they order again. When a meal becomes an experience.
BUBU is not just a street food place. A place where it's good to return.
