In April 2020, at the initiative of the Atypical Development Methodology Center of the Apor Vilmos Katolicus Főiskola (AVKF), with the coordination of the Hungarian Charity Service of Malta and Eszterházy University, a special methodological development was launched with the aim of helping the learning of children living in disadvantaged regions. The development of the tools called study cards was motivated by the situation caused by the coronavirus epidemic. A third of the students, typically disadvantaged students, could not access distance learning due to the lack of digital devices or their insufficient functioning, so they fell behind significantly. Therefore, to facilitate the acquisition and practice of the school curriculum, we have created question-answer and task-solution type study card packages, which can be used for quiz games and can also be used as part of various board games.
When the project started, we focused on bringing in children who were lagging behind, but based on the experience of trying the card packs, we expanded the range of users. We can say that the flashcards are suitable for learning while playing, and are developmental not only for disadvantaged students, not only for students with atypical development, but also for all students. Therefore, compared to the beginning, we have modified the goals of the project: in addition to helping the lower age group, we plan cards for all ages and all subjects, from elementary school to high school. You can find new cards from time to time!
