Dropping a star because the breaking news pop-over alert is STILL kicking me out of news stories I'm in the middle of reading and back to the top level. WHY CANT THIS SIMPLE THING BE FIXED?! Otherwise it's generally not a bad app. However there is still no search and text cannot be selected. Video controls are now hidden and less intuitive and sometimes theres no way to turn off distracting subtitles. Else the layout, colour schemes, spacing, readibility etc. all work well.

Lately the rté news app has been utterly useless. It was a go-to for news for me, but now at least once a week it is failing to open, and I've cleared cache, and was about to clear data, but it won't even open some days now (always saying 'there was a problem opening rté news', which is no good for me, as it never offers any help...)

Live videos don't play. Much improved app with less ads ruining the experience allowing me to quickly get the news and go. Interface is nice and fresh with plenty of content. Keep the ads out. I see the video section has them. Also the ads don't play straight away and I find I have to click on the video a few times. I tend to just skip the video as I have no time for ads. If I do need to wait I turn down the volume.
