Meros helps you protect important secrets by keeping them recoverable without making one phone, one account, one cloud service, or one person hold the complete secret information.

A Meros is the protected secret record you create for something that matters: a recovery note, an account detail, a private instruction, or any small piece of information you want to keep private but not lose forever. Meros is not trying to be a general notes app, a cloud backup folder, or a conventional password manager. It is a focused local-first recovery tool for secrets that deserve careful custody.

A Splinter is one recoverable part of a Meros. It is a cryptographically protected share that can help reconstruct the original Meros only when enough valid Splinters are brought together under the app's recovery rules. A single Splinter is not the secret or even readable part of it. It is designed to be useful only when enough Splinters come together.

Meros uses Shamir Secret Sharing to split protected content into multiple Splinters. This means recovery can require a threshold of parts, such as enough trusted shares, instead of depending on one complete copy. Meros also adds encryption and verification layers around Splinters, so Splinters are not treated as plain pieces of text. The app is designed to be cryptographically safe by combining strong algorithms, encrypted storage, strictly data movement via internet, and explicit review before any changes.

No Meros data is sent to cloud, because Meros does not use one. Protected content and Splinters are kept on your device unless you intentionally move or share them. When Meros transfers Splinters, it is designed around peer-to-peer movement between devices using strong cryptographic protocols, local network discovery, and Bluetooth where available. Discovery helps devices find each other; it is not a cloud sync layer for your secrets.

Splinters can be kept in different ways depending on how you want to organize trust. You can keep a Splinter in physical form, such as a QR-based recovery artifact or a file that you store separately. You can also share Splinters with trusted people or trusted devices, so recovery is not locked to one object or one location. Meros is built around the idea that trust should be visible, intentional, and distributed.

The Meros app helps you review your Meros Library, see Splinter readiness, move Splinters, load Splinters back when needed, and work with trusted devices or keepers. The goal is to make recovery understandable without weakening privacy. Meros avoids putting your secret at the center of a cloud account and avoids treating convenience as a substitute for custody.

Use Meros for secrets where both privacy and recoverability matter. Keep the parts separate. Choose trusted keepers carefully. Review what you are moving before you move it. With Meros, protected content stays private by design, while recovery remains possible through Splinters when enough of the right parts are available.
