About this app

Naamdhun is a naam jap counter that listens. Chant aloud and it counts each naam it hears. Or press the gold button, hear "Radhe", "Om Namah Shivaya" or the naam you chose, and let the counter keep the mala of 108 while you keep your mind on the name.

Naam jap, jaap or japa: whatever you call it, the counter is the same. No ads, no account, no internet.

COUNT BY VOICE
• Tap the mic and chant aloud: every naam it hears is counted, hands-free, each with a soft bead click
• Teach it your voice once (say the naam three times) and it keeps learning how you chant
• It all happens on your phone, offline: nothing is recorded or sent
• Works best for naams up to a line long, with the phone near you; the screen stays on while it listens

THE COUNTER
• A real-looking hand tally counter with a gold button, five shapes and ten body colours
• The naam spoken on every press in a natural Hindi or Kannada voice; long mantras such as the Mahamrityunjaya and the Hare Krishna maha-mantra play as full recitations with word subtitles
• 86 japas across 15 groups: Krishna, Radha, Shiva, Ganesha, Lakshmi, Hanuman, Rama, Vishnu, Durga, Saraswati, Raghavendra Swami, Surya, Shani, Om and your own
• Your own japas: type any text in any script, record it in the app or pick a file, and use "Use my voice" to chant any japa in your own recording
• Mala counting: 108, 54, 27, 21, 11 or 10 beads, a bell at the end of each mala, malas counted per japa
• Today's count and daily target for each japa, a day streak, this week's chart and lifetime totals
• Sankalp: long-term vows of 1,008, 10,008, 1,00,000 or any number, counted from the day you begin and never reset
• Japa of the week: Monday Shiva, Tuesday Hanuman, Wednesday Ganesha, Thursday Vishnu, Friday Lakshmi, Saturday Shani, Sunday Surya
• Kannada: the whole app in ಕನ್ನಡ, with the naams in Kannada script and a Kannada voice
• Twenty-three classical paintings as backgrounds (Raja Ravi Varma, Kangra and Thanjavur art) or your own photo
• Dark or light look, vibrate on each count, count with the volume buttons, tap anywhere on the screen, hold the button to undo

PRIVACY
No ads, no account, no analytics, no internet permission. The microphone is used only while you record a japa or while Listen is on; Listen hears and counts your chant on the phone as it happens, records no audio, and keeps only a small pattern of how you say each naam, on your phone. Recordings never leave your phone.

Naam jap counter, jaap counter, japa counter, mala counter, mantra counter, digital mala, voice jap counter: Naamdhun is all of these, ad-free.
Chant aloud and it counts. Naam jap counter: 108 mala, sankalp, Radha, Shiva
