About this app

Learn to tie knots properly — and remember them.

KnotBloom is a visual knot-tying reference that draws every knot on your screen instead of showing you a photograph of somebody else's hands. Tap through the steps and the rope traces itself: you can see exactly where the working end goes and which strand crosses over which. When you can watch a knot form, it stops being a diagram to memorise and starts being a sequence you can follow.

34 KNOTS, SEVEN DISCIPLINES
Every knot is grouped by the job it does, so you can find the right one without knowing its name:
• Boating — bowline, cleat hitch, clove hitch, round turn and two half hitches, anchor bend
• Climbing — figure-eight follow-through, figure-eight on a bight, double fisherman's, alpine butterfly, prusik
• Fishing — improved clinch, palomar, blood knot, non-slip loop, arbor knot
• Camping — taut-line hitch, trucker's hitch, two half hitches, timber hitch, siberian hitch
• Scouting — square knot, overhand, figure-eight stopper, sheet bend, sheepshank, square and shear lashings
• Rescue — water knot, bowline on a bight, handcuff knot, munter hitch
• Decorative — turk's head, monkey's fist, diamond lanyard knot

WRITTEN BY PEOPLE WHO TIE THEM
Each knot carries a plain-language summary, the situations it is actually the right answer for, a holding-power rating, and practical notes — which knots jam after loading, which ones creep, which ones will roll off a smooth post, and what a badly dressed one looks like. The warnings are there because they matter.

PRACTISE, DON'T JUST BROWSE
Start a drill and KnotBloom pulls a handful of knots — the ones you have not settled yet, only your bookmarks, or anything from the whole atlas. Tie each one with real rope, then rate yourself honestly: fumbled it, got there, or clean and fast. Clean runs move a knot up the mastery ladder; an honest fumble nudges it back down. It is a memory tool, not a scoreboard.

WATCH YOUR BLOOM FILL
The home screen is a seven-petal gauge, one petal per discipline. Each petal fills from the centre outwards as the knots in that category climb the ladder, so a single glance tells you what you have been neglecting. Tap a petal to open that category.

BUILT FOR WHERE YOU ACTUALLY NEED IT
KnotBloom works with no signal, no account, and no setup. Everything — all 34 knots, every diagram, every instruction — is inside the app. It behaves identically on a boat, halfway up a crag, or in a tent in the rain.

• Left-handed mode mirrors every diagram
• Adjustable trace speed, from unhurried to brisk
• Optional auto-advance through the steps
• Calm-motion setting stops all ambient animation
• Search by name, category, or the job you need done
• Bookmark the knots you keep coming back to
• Streak tracking and a seven-day practice chart

NO ACCOUNT, NO ADS, NO TRACKING
KnotBloom requests no permissions at all — not even internet access. There is no sign-up, no advertising, no analytics, and no data collection of any kind. Your practice records live in a private database on your device and nowhere else.

A NOTE ON SAFETY
KnotBloom is a reference and a memory aid. Knots used where a fall or a heavy load could injure someone should be learned in person from a qualified instructor and checked by a competent partner every single time.
