About this app

DP Tree Book is a digital conservation platform that plants, tracks, and protects Sri Lanka's endangered and endemic trees turning every planting into a lifelong, trackable conservation journey instead of a one-time event.

Sri Lanka is one of the world's great biodiversity hotspots, home to tree species found nowhere else on Earth. Habitat loss, urban expansion, and invasive species are pushing many of these native trees toward extinction. DP Tree Book was built to change that, giving every planted tree a persistent digital identity that follows it from seedling to maturity.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

• Explore a live interactive map of reforestation efforts across Sri Lanka
• View individual tree profiles with species, planting date, health status, and photos
• Filter and browse trees by species, family, or conservation status
• Log new plantings directly from the field, even without an internet connection
• Access a library of botanical guides, horticultural tips, and eco-literacy lessons
• Follow the growth and progress of trees over time

BUILT FOR REAL CONSERVATION

Every tree logged through the app becomes part of a growing, verified record. Field data is checked by ecological experts before it appears on the public map, ensuring accuracy in species identification and location. Behind the scenes, species care guidelines stay consistent across the platform when a botanist updates guidance for a species, it applies instantly to every matching tree.

FOR SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITIES

DP Tree Book turns conservation into hands-on learning. Students and volunteers don't just plant trees — they geo-tag, photograph, and monitor them, connecting biology, geography, and environmental science to real fieldwork. Educators get ready-to-use lesson content, and schools can track their collective impact over time.

FOR RESEARCHERS AND PARTNERS

The platform's growing dataset supports real botanical research, helping scientists study how species respond to climate and soil conditions. Organizations can fund and track dedicated reforestation efforts with full transparency into survival rates and growth outcomes.

WHY IT MATTERS

Native forests do more than support wildlife their root systems prevent erosion and landslides, and they help filter and replenish water supplies that communities depend on. By focusing on endangered and endemic species, DP Tree Book works to protect not just individual trees but entire ecosystems, one verified planting at a time.
