Schnapsen is the card game for two from Austria and southern Germany: 20 cards, trumps, marriages of 20 and 40, closing the stock and calling 66 once you have enough. The first to seven game points wins the match (the “Bummerl”). This app plays it with the traditional Württemberg deck.
HOW YOU PLAY
• Against bots – any time, even without internet. The computer opponents come in six strengths, from apprentice to grandmaster.
• Online against others – through the rated queue or at a table of your own. Bots can fill empty seats.
• With people you know – at a private table via an invite link.
• The match target can be changed, and closing the stock can be switched off as a house rule.
FOR NEWCOMERS
• A guided practice game explains what to do at the important moments.
• The rules help shows card values, marriages, closing, calling 66 and the game points.
• Legal cards are lifted, illegal ones dimmed.
• “66 – I have enough” is only highlighted once you really have 66 points.
EASY TO READ
• Large cards and large text, adjustable.
• Three looks: Wirtshaus, Arena and a high-contrast “Klar”.
• Languages: German, Swabian dialect or English.
• Calm pace: animations can be slowed down or turned off.
EVERY DAY AND EVERY WEEK
• The daily deal: the same cards for everyone each day, one attempt against the bot, with its own daily leaderboard.
• The weekly tournament at the weekend: play as many matches as you like – the prize is a trophy for your profile, nothing else.
• Leaderboards for the rating and a hall of fame with the luckiest, the unluckiest and the fastest players.
WATCH AND LEARN
• Wirtshaus TV: watch the bots at two exhibition tables – with all cards open or from one player's view.
• Replay your matches at your own pace, with the match score next to the table.
• The match analysis shows for every decision what you did and what would have been better.
• The luck meter in your profile and match history shows how good the cards you were dealt were.
FAIR, NO PRESSURE
• No playing for real money: Taler have no cash value and are never paid out. There are no loot boxes and no random purchases.
• The app contains optional ads and in-app purchases (Taler for cosmetics such as card backs and table cloths) – both only if you choose to use them. Purchased Taler give no advantage in the game; Taler can also be earned by playing. Terms and right of withdrawal: link “Taler & purchases” at the bottom of the lobby.
• Anyone who misbehaves can be reported, muted or blocked.
• No account needed against bots. For online play a guest account is enough – no email address, no password. You can delete it yourself in the settings at any time.
