Do you carry printed 2D codes around, one piece of paper at a time?
2D Code Book reads the codes you already have, keeps them on your device,
and shows them on screen when you need to hold one up to a reader.
■ Shown exactly as it was read
This app stores the black-and-white grid of the code itself.
It does not read the contents and build a new code, so what you see
is the very same pattern you scanned.
Many different codes can carry the same contents, and rebuilding one
almost always produces a different pattern. Some readers behave
differently depending on the pattern, so this app carries the pattern itself.
■ Registering takes two scans of the same code
If a single square is misread while scanning, that mistake is stored with it.
Error correction hides the problem, so nothing looks wrong at the time.
So the app asks you to scan twice, from a different angle or distance,
and registers the code only when the two agree square for square.
You can also add a code from an image on your phone, such as a screenshot.
An image cannot be moved, so instead of scanning twice the app reads it
again and again at different sizes and checks that every square agrees.
Blurry photos are refused, and you are asked to use the camera instead.
The image you choose is not saved.
■ Organise it your way
・Names and tags
・Fields you define yourself (text, number, or a list of choices)
・Sets: group the codes you use together and bring them up in order
・Favourites
・Attach a photo to tell them apart at a glance
■ Built for standing at a reader
・Squares are drawn on whole pixels, so nothing blurs
・The screen goes to full brightness and stays awake
・The quiet zone around the code is kept as the standard requires
・No ads while a code is on screen
・Adjustable size, and it remembers the size you settled on
■ Fill in details from a photo
Photograph what you keep alongside a code, and the app reads the text
on it to suggest a name, tags, and a note.
Every word and every look it matches against is one you taught it.
Nothing is built in. Suggestions are shown for you to confirm,
so nothing is overwritten on its own.
Text is read entirely on your device. Images are never sent anywhere.
■ Please read before you install
・This app cannot create 2D codes.
It registers printed codes you already have.
・There is no guarantee that every reader will read them.
Some readers, or reflections on the screen, may prevent it.
・There is no sharing, and screenshots are blocked.
Taking your codes out of the app is deliberately not possible.
・Data is kept only on your device.
Use the password-protected encrypted backup when changing phones.
If you forget that password, the backup cannot be restored.
・Only QR Codes are supported.
Despite the name, formats such as DataMatrix are not supported.
・Ads are shown, but never while a code is displayed.
■ Permissions
・Camera … reading 2D codes and taking photos
The remaining permissions are required by the libraries used
for advertising and for the camera.
