Waves is a pond you can poke. Touch the water and a ripple spreads out, bounces off the shore and fades away. Tap with several fingers and the waves cross and interfere, just as they do on real water.
The ripples are not canned animations. Waves simulates the water itself, every frame, so each splash behaves the way waves really do: they travel, reflect, overlap and die down.
POND SHAPES
• Open water, from one edge of your screen to the other
• Circle, Cross, Clover and Star, with waves reflecting off every corner and curve of the shoreline
MAKE WAVES
• Tap for a single splash, or drag a finger to leave a wake
• Use several fingers at once
• A bigger, firmer touch makes a bigger splash, on screens that report touch size and pressure
• Reset calms the water in one tap
TUNE THE WATER
Start from a preset:
• Calm: slow ripples that soon settle
• Ripple tank: the balanced default
• Storm: fast waves that keep on going
• Mirror pool: a hard shoreline that throws every wave back
Then adjust wave speed, damping, how much the shore absorbs, and the size and depth of each splash, and watch the water change as you drag the slider.
SEE YOURSELF IN THE WATER
• Turn on Camera and the water reflects what the front camera sees, broken up by every ripple
• Darken the Floor from a clear tiled pool to a deep, dark pond, and the reflection takes over, as it does on still water
NO ADS, NO ACCOUNT
Waves collects no data and works offline. It asks for camera access only if you turn Camera on, and uses the picture live, on your phone, to draw the reflection. Nothing is recorded, stored or sent anywhere.
Touch the water and watch ripples spread, bounce off the shore and fade.
