Short Films for Everyone!

The adOHRi app transmits the audio description (AD) of selected short film programs to your ears. This allows you to receive the film description directly in the cinema and experience the diversity of short films.

The number of accessible short films is constantly growing, and distributors are compiling more and more short film programs. Ask at your local cinema about the possibility of an accessible screening. The goal is to make short films accessible to everyone.

Bring your own headphones to the cinema and launch the app. The audio description will be transmitted to your mobile device via Wi-Fi. You can adjust the volume on your mobile device so that you can experience the original film sound through the cinema's audio system and the audio description through your headphones.

The sound will not be transmitted through the mobile device's speakers. So make sure your headphones are plugged in. For the best experience, come to the cinema with a charged mobile device and use wired headphones if possible.

For optimal audio description reception, adOHRi may disconnect your mobile device from the internet until you close the app.

What is audio description?

Audio description transforms a film into an audio-described film. Scenes, actors, facial expressions, gestures, and camera work are described verbally by professional audio description writers. These descriptions are available for blind and visually impaired viewers to hear during the film's dialogue pauses.

The adOHRi app was developed by the AG Kurzfilm (Short Film Working Group) in collaboration with Agnes Nuber from the KLAPPE AUF! Short Film Festival Hamburg, together with programmer Hubert Popiolek.

This project was co-financed with tax revenue based on the budget approved by the Saxon State Parliament.
